POST EVENT SUMMARY

ASCSA members enjoyed good weather, terrific nightly music and other entertainment, great food, and camaraderie in the Western Caribbean, on the beautiful Holland America ship, Nieuw Amsterdam.  In addition to our daily activities, we met for dinner, switching seats and getting to know a different person better each night. This also enabled us to share our day, and plan the next one.  We met two mornings on Sea Days to read the lesson together, and held our own Wednesday evening meeting onboard.  We were a diverse group from all over the US and Canada, and attendees had interesting stories to tell.

Some highlights were finding a great deck chair or salon seat to relax in, our friendly Indonesian waiter, listening to the “Piano Guys” at night, and meeting for a late-night Hawaiian pizza on the Lido deck.  Day excursions included snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins and stingrays, and walking around the various ports, absorbing the Caribbean atmosphere.  In George Town in the Cayman Islands, we were fortunate to be able to meet up with an ASCSA friend staying with local family members. Together we toured around taking in the impressive new development, the town of Hell (with an amazing landscape of dark coral), and the Turtle Farm before meeting up with other attendees at the Ritz Hotel.
Returning to port, we attended beautifully remodeled First Church, Ft. Lauderdale and enjoyed lunch with some local church members at the Harbor Café before making our way homeward.
